Welcome to the Nelms Lab!
We study how development shapes genetics. Developmental processes determine which genetic variants spread, which are filtered, and which are ultimately passed to the next generation. We use plants as a powerful experimental system — combining functional genomics, high-throughput screening, and microscopy to address questions fundamental to both plant evolution and crop improvement. Learn more about our current projects — spanning mutation spread, haploid gene regulation, and cell fate reprogramming.
